This workshop is offered in studio and virtually.
Katherine will introduce you to the amazing benefits of a floor barre practice! Taking cues from basic ballet training, the technique will help the body find a neutral spine or improve posture, strengthen core and hips, as well as find length in the body as you work without the pull of gravity on the floor. Great for all ages, athletes, dancers, and those recovering from injury.
Over the years Katharine has discovered that most dance conditioning classes use principles from floor barre. Traditionally a conditioning class performed as part of a dancers’ schedule. Floor barre increases flexibility, coordination, strength and control, and improve alignment. An injured dancer can also maintain technique and their amazing physique while injured by participating in floor barre classes.
Floor barre exercises on the floor and are based around typical ballet-type movements. Students are lying on your back, flat, seated, and sequenced together to form a short routine. Floor barre classes cover a range of strengthening and stretching exercises working through the sagittal, frontal and transverse plane. Participants will often transition between supine, side lying and prone during a sequence adding flow and variety.
